At higher cultivation realms, soul weapons become conscious and have more usage restrictions.[1][2] The refined soul weapon must be free of impurities. This would be the most critical criterion for an exceptional soul weapon. The better the soul weapon, the lesser the obstacles and the easier for one’s soul to enter and wield it like an extension of one’s own body, controlling it around smoothly and naturally. Only the inferior soul weapons would be plagued by such obstacles, this was mainly due to the impurities accumulated in the soul weapon. When the soul met with these impurities, the soul would be like walking on a twisted, crooked and narrow trail filled with huge stones and stumbling detritus. Furthermore, the toughness and sharpness of an inferior soul weapon was incomparable to that of a good soul weapon, the protective capability on the owner’s soul was not too great either.[3]
